KIMCHI KRISIS

Due to a rather cold spring, this autumn there is a shortage of Napa cabbage in Korea. The price of cabbage is four times higher than usual, which has lead some restaurants to start charging for side dishes of kimchi, which are usually provided for free.

President Lee Myung-Bak has publicly announced that he will only eat kimchi made from Western style cabbage to put less pressure on farmers, and soon more Napa cabbage will be imported from China--normally sky-high import tariffs have been suspended for now.

As for me, I'll bear the suffering by eating more 동치미--my favorite white radish kimchi^^
